At Ortak, we believe beautiful jewellery should also be responsibly made. From the materials we choose to the partners we work with, ethical practices are at the heart of everything we do.
For nearly six decades, our jewellery has been designed and handcrafted in Scotland. Throughout that time, we have remained committed to responsible sourcing, transparency, and reducing our environmental impact wherever possible.
Recycled Eco-Silver
Much of the silver used in our jewellery is recycled eco-silver. This silver is recovered from existing sources and refined back to its pure state, meaning it has the same quality and durability as newly mined silver but with a significantly lower environmental footprint.
Using recycled silver helps reduce the demand for newly mined metals, minimising the environmental disruption associated with traditional mining. By choosing recycled materials wherever possible, we are able to create jewellery that is both beautiful and more sustainable.
Responsible Sourcing
We work carefully with trusted suppliers who share our commitment to responsible practices. Our materials are sourced through reputable supply chains that prioritise ethical labour standards, environmental responsibility, and transparency.
Maintaining a clear and traceable supply chain is important to us. We strive to ensure the metals, stones, and components used in our jewellery meet recognised ethical and environmental standards.

Our Orkney workshop combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques, ensuring each piece meets the high standards of quality and durability that have defined Ortak since 1967.
